When customers first walk into the new Wings and Things diner at TJC, they're immediately hit with the smell of tangy wing sauce along with a hint of sweet coffee from the Starbucks coffee station on the left side of the room.

It's anything but the typical smell that you would find in a greasy wings restaurant.

Located directly next to Rogers Student Centers bookstore is TJC's new Wings and Things. This new addition to the TJC campus has replaced the Java Cup, and the replacement seems to have been a success by the number of customers in line.

"I think it's gotten better now that we have a larger variety of food," said restaurant employee Brian Stewart. "It's gotten real, real busy. Before this, we had coffee and snacks, now there's all kinds of variety. The more variety, the more people we get."

Even though it began as a budget experiment, it has now resulted in a clean, cool spot for students to eat.

"This was an experiment to see if enough money could be made to carry it into next semester. It's been very successful so far," Stewart said.

One TJC student had a positive experience with the foods offered at Wings and Things.

"Yeah, I would say they were pretty good," said Jordan Boeker, a student athlete of TJC. "I think it's better than the chicken they have at the cafeteria."

Apache Bucks and cash are the forms of payment accepted at Wings and Things, and if you have a gift card from the Java Cup it will still be accepted at the new diner.

They don't have daily specials or meal deals available yet, however, there is still a wide variety of foods to choose from. Aside from snacks, coffee and drinks, some of the foods you'll find at the new restaurant are chicken wings, chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, fish sandwiches, hamburgers, fries, chili cheese fries, salads, and many others. Choices of chicken wing flavors include: Mild, Hot, Asian Spicy and Honey BBQ.

According to Wings and Things employees, the main problem that they have run into is the students thinking that they close at 2 p.m. like the Java Cup. The Wings & Things Restaurant is open Monday - Thursday, from 7a.m.-7p.m.
